Why
"Choosing To Lift Every Voice And Sing"
Mini-Seminars Today?
Many Americans are proud to have witnessed the progress and growth made over the years in racial matters. Some know these experiences, first-hand, and have lived this history. Most are appreciative of Black and White citizens who come together and toil over the difficult tasks to help America keep its vow of inclusivity of its laws and promises to “WE THE PEOPLE”.

We know, too, that this progress has not been nearly enough, has taken far too long, and there is much more work to be done. However, there is a faction of our citizenry, who have chosen to continue to fight for our rights, chosen to continue to “rise and build” on our unique legacy, and chosen to celebrate being American!
Those of us who do not wish for certain parts of America’s history to repeat itself in future generations, must help others to remember the horrors of what ‘that America’ was like, less than a century or even fifty years ago! This collection of customizable seminars teaches the same positive lyrics, principles, and values, needed from 1899 thru today. We still need faith, hope, guidance, and resilience to move forward in our freedom loving society.
Most times, it is much easier and less shameful to forget, ignore, or pretend America’s past history and experiences never happened. If we have not, personally or vicariously, witnessed or felt the remnants of slavery, followed vestiges of Jim Crow guidelines, feared the dangers of police brutality, viewed overt hatred, racism, and citizen prejudices, that is good! But, please know that most citizens of color have felt the pains and throes, virtually or in reality, of some or all of these. It is our history in America. Understanding our history, from a faith-based perspective, helps to strengthen our resolve and prepare us for the road map needed for a continuous pursuit of a brighter future. We want to help America keep her promises to her people… all of her people, regardless of the color of their skin!
The goal and hope for each seminar in Choosing To Lift Every Voice and Sing is to encourage young people to embrace these lyrics and share them with others. Claiming these lyrics and the sheer determination and sacrifices paid with free labor of our ancestors, down thru many years, should remove any doubt as to America being our home. Our forefathers made a substantial financial and human investment in earning our place in America! Proudly, we choose to share with other Americans a unique proud heritage and legacy in America’s greatness.
Parents, counselors, educators, pastors, and other caring adults viewed and made suggestions for these materials to help young people who must deal with the rigors and realities of racism in their daily lives. These seminars are non-toxic and relevant. The short vignettes, videos, and conversational youth-centered topics are entertaining and educational. Dr. Opal Lee, grandmother of Juneteenth once said, “Love, unity, forgiveness, (like hatred, divisiveness, and shame) can be learned”. We must remain steadfast, vigilant, and determined in our efforts to abort shameless, immoral laws, and acts of cruelty (levied or witnessed) toward humankind. In other words, Choosing To Lift Every Voice and Sing points out how in spite of adversities faced by our forefathers, God was there. He never left us alone. God will continue to help us as we help ourselves and learn to help others . Why? These lyrics, taught in these seminars, undeniably are significant in intentionally promoting positive historical facts as well as an inspiration of our faith and reward in knowing Him.
