Choosing to Lift Every Voice and Sing
THE HARP, AUGUSTA SAVAGE
ABOUT
Elizabeth Branch is the author of this empowering book of mini-seminars entitled "Choosing to Lift Every Voice and Sing". This special material was designed to help our African American youth (and their friends of all races) to instill faith, "personal nobility", pride, love, and hope in our country.
The researched curriculum materials and "old school" wisdom gained from the author's past lived experiences are applicable today even as we approach special Federal holidays such as:
-
MLK Day,
-
Independence Day,
-
Memorial Day,
-
Juneteenth,
-
Veterans Day,
-
Black History Month,
-
Semiquincentennial,
and similar events celebrating the many contributions of our ancestors.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Choosing to Lift Every Voice and Sing mini-seminars is to:
-
support our African American young participants' mental health and social-emotional wellbeing
-
engage black (and white) leaders and participants in difficult, but necessary, civil dialogue and conversation about race
-
learn a valuable keepsake, the Negro National Anthem, and gain relevant faith-based insights and solutions into racial matters and concerns
A SPECIAL NOTE
My dear counselors, youth leaders, parents, and other caring adults,
Thank you for using the workbook, Choosing to Lift Every Voice and Sing.
I am available and want to help you get off to a good start. I would love to answer questions, provide guidance and suggestions, or even greet your youth before or after a seminar.
Let's work together to assure the success of these valuable seminars and preserve this faith-based American keepsake.
